Amazon.com Review
With the right equipment, deep-fried food can be crisp and delicious instead of fat-logged and soggy. This Presto CoolDaddy electric deep fryer includes several features that help you make tasty fried chicken, fish, shrimp, and French fries for up to six people. Its adjustable thermostat ranges from 250 to 375 degrees F, and its bright red indicator light signals when the oil has reached the desired temperature so food cooks no longer than necessary. A viewing window lets you track progress without opening the cover, and an included wire basket with an exterior handle means you can prevent spatters by lowering food into hot oil with the lid down.

Smart in structure, the fryer has a cool-touch exterior and a locking cover with a push-button latch for safety. Its anti-odor charcoal air filter removes without hassle, and the interior cooking pot is nonstick for quick cleanup. The wire interior basket features small holes--good for draining oil off while keeping small pieces in. Measuring approximately 13-1/2 by 10 by 11-1/2 inches, the cooker can be stored with the basket, handle, and cord inside. All parts should be washed by hand, and Presto includes a one-year warranty. --Emily Bedard

5 out of 5 stars I love a bit of grease   September 28, 2007

A great gadget. No spills, no over boils, no stink, no mess.

Ensure your food is patted dry...or use a bit less oil if you don't want an over boil of grease coming out of the top.

It also says, to prevent food gunk sticking to pan..like hand batter fish don't use the basket. I just put the basket down into the grease and drop the fish in. Didn't stick.

Easy to clean. Lid lifts off, and it has a small catch for when you open the lid in the back of the unit.

I think it was easy to clean. Lid comes off, filter pops out, bowl lifts out and the bowl is immersable. Little hot water and Dawn and like new...

It took about 51 ounces of oil.

Order extra filters, it only comes with one.

5 out of 5 stars A Great Fryer   May 26, 2007

I love this fryer. Except for the amount of oil which is necessary, which has nothing to do with the fryer's ability itself, this machine works flawlessly. I've made French fries, fried zucchini, and fried ravioli so far. My only "problem" is that the basket doesn't seem to want to cooperate and sit up, out of the oil, during the process, as if the button used to rest on isn't released. Something I don't want to mess with while hot oil is splattering, and it also doesn't matter to me. I've had no other problems. There is some steam that escapes but nothing I'd need an exhaust or even a window open for. Great machine, I highly recommend it.

5 out of 5 stars Good Home Use Fryer   May 21, 2008

The unit works well; it heats quickly, I love the closing cover before you drop the basket to eliminate oil splash. The oil pan removes for easy cleaning. I did find that I had to cook longer than the product stated, but that was really no problem, everything came out great. I would reccomend this unit.

5 out of 5 stars Great, but heed to this one warning.   September 29, 2009

First I want to warn people. The filters that amazon suggest you get with the fryer are the wrong filters. Do not get them. Other then that the fryer is great. Cooks things up in a jiffy without smelling up the kitchen. And if you are calorie counting a deep frying like Cool Daddy fries things quickly so it saves more calories then something that just sits and absorbs oil. Now I am not saying it is a low calorie way of cooking but frying food using this method has way less calories then frying something laying in a pan of oil. I suffer from asthma and this does not smoke up the kitchen. But you have to change the filter. So make sure you buy the correct filters. It does what it is suppose to do very well.

Extra! Extra! READ ALL ABOUT IT! After a few months of happy frying the product just went dead. I went to GoPresto.com to see if I can replace the cord which I thought may have been the problem. Why would anything just go dead like that. Well they no longer carry the replacement cord. What to do now. I guess this is just a throw away product. And buy another brand.

5 out of 5 stars Great safe fryer   January 15, 2009

We were against getting a deep fryer because we have small kids, but I saw this one and heard that it was a safer option than most. I got it for Christmas just to deep fry French Fries for the kids, but we have been using it for a solid month frying a lot more. It's been fun to experiment with hot dogs and burritos and we have loved making our own fried chicken. For a family that didn't think we wanted a fryer, we sure have loved this one.
